Prof. Dr. Tae-Gyu Chang from the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea, visited KULIS (Kocaeli University Laboratory of Image and Signal processing) between 23 Sept. and 30 Sept., 2007. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarp Ertürk, director of KULIS, received Prof. Chang and gave him a briefing about research and development efforts carried out at KULIS. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarp Ertürk and Prof. Dr. Tae-Gyu Chang, who are co-directing and collaborating in a bilateral research project entitled “Optimal and Near-Optimal Postfiltering for Improved Compressed Video Quality” co-supported by the Turkish Scientific and Technical Research Council (TUBITAK) and the Korea Research Foundation (KRF), discussed progress in the research project, arranged for scientific publications,
planned future directions of research and explored possibilities for further collaboration. Prof. Chang expressed his happiness to visit KULIS and conveyed his gratitude for the friendly welcome. He stated that the visit was extremely beneficial for discussing joint research and planning future collaboration. Prof. Chang declared that he was very impressed by the high number of researchers as well as the excellence and enthusiasm of researchers in KULIS and the scientific level of conducted research. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sarp Ertürk stated that he was very pleased to welcome Prof. Chang at KULIS and confirmed that his visit was extremely productive for discussing progress as well as planning for future collaboration.
